About TESAT

Over the course of six decades, TESAT has developed in-depth expertise in manufacturing of payload equipment for communication satellites and has established itself as a clear European market leader. On its 60,000m² premises in Backnang, Germany, about 1,000 employees develop, assemble, integrate, and test systems and equipment for telecommunication via satellite. To date, more than 700 space projects have been completed.

Our product offerings encompass highly reliable equipment as for example the travelling wave tube amplifiers, multiplexers, waveguide switches, and modulators, which along with complete systems are delivered globally to all leading satellite manufacturers. Therefore, we offer the complete communication technology necessary, to for example emit television signals over the antenna of a satellite to each household. More than half of all communication satellites in orbit have TESAT equipment on board.

We are convinced that in future global communication will only be viable with the incorporation of space. Therefore, as the first organization in the world, we are developing and delivering equipment for optical broadband communication in space. Using laser, these terminals can transmit data and images between satellites and from satellites to earth. Advantages of laser communication are, for example, the high transfer rate of 10 Gbps and its stability.

Given our competitive position in the commercial satellite market and the quality standards required of us there, our products are now used more frequently in the various satellite-based systems of the security and defense sectors in Germany, Europe, and the United States.

In addition to our technical expertise, we cultivate our standing in Backnang through social engagement and by supporting public projects.

Über TESAT

Im Laufe von sechs Jahrzehnten hat TESAT fundiertes Know-how in der Herstellung von Nutzasten für Kommunikationssatelliten aufgebaut und sich als Marktführer in Europa etabliert. Auf dem 60.000m² großen Firmengelände in Backnang bei Stuttgart entwickeln, produzieren, integrieren und testen rund 1.000 Mitarbeiter Systeme und Geräte für die Telekommunikation via Satellit. Bisher wurden mehr als 700 Weltraumprojekte abgeschlossen.

Unser Produktportfolio umfasst hochzuverlässige Geräte wie beispielsweise Wanderfeldröhrenverstärker, Multiplexer, Schalter und Modulatoren, die, wie auch komplette Systeme, weltweit an alle führenden Satellitenhersteller geliefert werden. So bieten wir die komplette Kommunikationstechnologie an, die notwendig ist, um zum Beispiel Fernsehsignale via Satellit an alle Haushalte zu übertragen. Mehr als die Hälfte aller Kommunikationssatelliten im Orbit haben Equipment von TESAT mit an Bord.

Wir sind davon überzeugt, dass globale Kommunikation in Zukunft nur unter Einbeziehung des Weltraums möglich sein wird. Daher entwickeln und liefern wir als weltweit erstes Unternehmen Geräte für die optische Breitbandkommunikation im Weltraum. Mithilfe von Lasern können diese Terminals Daten und Bilder zwischen Satelliten und von Satelliten zur Erde übertragen. Vorteile der Laserkommunikation sind beispielsweise die hohe Datenübertragungsrate von 10 Gbps und deren Stabilität.

Vor dem Hintergrund unserer Wettbewerbsposition auf dem kommerziellen Satellitenmarkt und der von uns dort geforderten Qualitätsstandards werden unsere Produkte häufig auch in den verschiedenen satellitengestützten Systemen des Sicherheits- und Verteidigungssektors in Deutschland, Europa und den USA eingesetzt.

Abgesehen von unserer technischen Expertise sind wir uns unserer sozialen Verantwortung als größter Arbeitgeber in Backnang bewusst und engagieren uns in vielerlei Hinsicht in sozialen und gemeinnützigen Projekten rund um die Stadt und den Landkreis.
